The Crucible at Orchard Dene 17-20 July

Blewbury Players are delighted to announce that Sebastian Palka has agreed to return to Blewbury for the summer of 2019 and will be directing The Crucible. Sebastian made his Blewbury debut directing the very popular Great Expectations in 2017. This was notable for its strong characters and ensemble scenes.

Auditions Sat 26 & Sun 27 January. (Males over 16 years and females over 14 years).  Please book your audition c/o blewburyplayers@gmail.com or ringing 01235 850537.

Once cast, in order to reduce the number of weekend rehearsals leading up to the performances there will be two separate workshop days between the auditions and June allowing everyone to come together early as a company and work on characterisation.

Rehearsals weekends start from 1st June to avoid the spring bank holiday and usually run 10-6 Saturday and Sundays. Depending on the role you wont be needed all the time but likely to be needed for some of most weekends. A schedule will be circulated early on for the seven weekends leading to the performance week. It is however essential that all cast are available for the whole of the final weekend (13-14 July).

BBC4 Revue – 2018

The Blewbury Players, in collaboration with the BBC (Blewbury Broadcasting Corporation), are pleased to announce the return of revue.  Not since BBC3 in 2007 (yes, it’s that long ago) has there been anything quite like it.  But at last, in the spring of 2019, and in the hope that all memory of 2007 has faded, we will present the imaginatively titled BBC4.  What is BBC4?  In these days of Netflix and personalised programming, you may well ask.   It is song, dance, film, sketches and fun, all brought completely up-to-date, digitally re-mastered, live-streamed and podcast, and peformed by you!

We are looking for performers and material, new and old, experienced and hopeful and for help backstage.  To kick around ideas and trial sketches and songs, we are organising two Fork Handles evening on Fridays 9 November and 7 December from 8.00 in the Melland Room.  Everybody is welcome.  Whether you have some ideas, some scripts, some songs, want to perform or just have a drink and see what it’s all about, do come along.  In the meantime, please let Sheila (850537, sloy24@gmail.com) or Steve (850539, stephen.white@bridusmead.co.uk) know if you’re interested or want to discuss any ideas or material.
