Fork Handles Evening 10th February – Scenes from Dickens – Blewbury School Hall

Fork Handles Eveningdickens quote
Friday 10th February
Scenes from Dickens

We will be trialling the script to be used at this Year’s Friends Evening at a Fork Handles evening, in the school, on Friday 10 February.
Being Dickens, there are loads of parts of all shapes and sizes.  The Friends Evening will be a ‘rehearsed reading’ (i.e. no parts to learn) and anybody is welcome to come to the Fork Handles session, whether you want to do the Friends Evening or not.   So please do come along to Fork Handles, have a go, have a drink and have some fun.

This year’s Friends Evening will be in Blewbury School on Friday 31 March.  We’re presenting Scenes from Dickens (a taster for this summer’s production of Great Expectations).

Like all Dickens stories, there are many characters, young and old, parts large and small, and, as always with the Blewbury Players, we are happy to welcome people with a wide ranging of acting experience, starting from zero. (Children from age 10 upwards).  We are as keen as ever to encourage new people to come along and take part and for those who have been involved in the past to return.

Our director will be Sebastian Palka, who has worked with and was recommended by Laura Baggaley, who directed this year’s splendid A Midsummer Night’s Dream. A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Performance dates will be 20th-23rd July 2016. Box office opens 4th June (more details nearer the time).

We now have an amazing cast of new and familiar faces. Thank you to all those who auditioned. There were some difficult choices to make as the standard was so high. Our director Laura Baggaley and designer Jay Hirst have been visiting Orchard Dene and the creative process is underway.
